Those present were:  Pam Hansen, Bob Auen and Carol Auen.  Resignations were acknowledged from Jason Wulf, Beth Wulf, Carolyn Hoelscher, and Vicki Beckman.  Curt Wareham also resigned as president.  Bob Auen agreed to fill one of the vacancies.  After checking the by-laws, a minimum of 5 persons are needed to serve as directors.  Therefore, at this time, the directors are Pam Hansen, Bob Auen, Carol Auen, Kristie Dewey, Kevin Carstensen, Roger Buehler, and Curt Wareham.&lt;br /&gt;      Officers were elected as follows:  President, Carol Auen; Vice President, Bob Auen, and Secretary/Treasurer, Pam Hansen.&lt;br /&gt;      We reviewed the Endow Iowa Fund having a current balance of $3,310.18.  It was agreed upon to send $6,580.05 from our local account to our Endow Iowa Fund. The $125 that was received previously as donations for the fine arts departments, will be given to the High School Music Department.&lt;br /&gt;      It was also decided to offer the funds raised from GoodSearch and GoodShop annually to a different department/classroom/school group, etc. Requests can be made prior to the beginning of each year.  The OABCIG High School Music Department will be the recipients for 2011.&lt;br /&gt;      Pam Hansen reported information for a possible fundraiser.  She will gather some more information and we will meet again as we all agreed that some sort of event is needed to increase awareness of the foundation as well as raising funds for our cause.  We also discussed presenting information at the all-school banquet that will be held in June.  Volunteers are needed to serve on committees to help promote the foundation and to help with any events that may take place.&lt;br /&gt;       Carol asked about the possibility of the Education Foundation being the sponsors of the All-School reunions since we are directly related to the alumni/education.  Pam will inquire at the next meeting of those working with the reunion for this year. There is absolutely NO cost to our supporters and GoodSearch will donate a penney for each time someone uses their search engine!  It really does count up.  This year we earned almost $130. Members present were Carolyn Hoelscher, Pam Hansen, Jason Wulf, Carol Auen, Kevin Carstensen; and Sup't. Dani Trimble and Bob Auen. Discussion was held on raising funds for the district to purchase active boards for the classrooms. Carol and Carolyn viewed active boards in use at the BC-IG elementary and were very impressed at the interaction it provided for the students with their lessons. Sup't. Trimble reported that each unit would cost approx. $3,800. The members approved launching a campaign to raise $40,000 to purchase 10 active board units. Funds will be raised and hopefully have some in place by the start of the next school year.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Applications were reviewed for the two scholarships of $250 each. They will be presented their checks at the awards night next Wednesday night. Carol has agreed to represent the foundation to make these presentations.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;One application was received for the mini-grants that we offered that were due on May 1st. Kara Neville submitted an application for books for an elementary leveled book library. It will benefit all the students and all teachers will have access to the books. She asked for a minimum of $100 up to $5,000; as they could use anything we could help them with. Mrs. Trimble informed us that there were no funds available through the district to help with this project, and that it would be a very valuable assest for the district. The members voted to grant Kara $2,500 at this time to begin the project.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Vicki is working on a brochure for the foundation showcasing the previous projects that we have funded since we organized. Kevin will check with her to see how that is coming. Mrs. Trimble will help with the information on the active boards that we would like to include.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Fundraising activities were also discussed; the members felt that we should try to promote donations on a larger scale, including the endowment options at this time. The OA Education Foundation is considering raising funds for the OA district to install these active boards in the classrooms. A cost proposal will be available at the next foundation meeting to be held on Wednesday, May 12th. Both directors were very impressed and excited for the possibilities these would create for the students and teachers. Information will be shared with other board members as well as awarding this spring's mini-grants at the next meeting. Those present were:  Carolyn Hoelscher, Pam Hansen, Roger Buehler, Vicki Beckman, Curt Wareham, Jason Wulf, Carol Auen, Kevin Carstensen, and Dani Trimble.  The plans to hold the Annual Spring Fling were changed due to the OABCIG Scholarhip Committee's Spring Fling being held the following week.  Several ideas were talked about at different times of the year.  The group also visited about asking some prominent members of the community to help us get the information out about our foundation and the availability of the endowment fund that is now in place. Everyone was in agreement that a special project should be pursued.  Mrs. Trimble suggested Active Boards for the classrooms and invited us to come with her to see a demonstration on April 16th.  Carolyn will request copies of the scholarship forms used at the school for those awarded by the board and we will choose from those to use as an application form for the scholarship funds we have received to be awarded this spring.  She will collect them and send them out to all members for their feedback.  Applications will be due back by May 1st.  Mini-grant applications are also due to us from the teachers on May 1st. Kristy Dewey reqested a leave of absence and will be inactive as a director until further notice.  Pam Hansen was appointed to fill the secretary vacancy.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Discussion was held regarding the $500 that was donated last year to be given out as a scholarship.  Carolyn H. will contact the guidance counselor for information on the appliation process.  Also, $125 was received and designated for the fine arts.  Mrs. Trimble will get back to us with some suggestions for using these funds.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A request was received from Pippa Fineran, MS teacher, for additional books for a language arts literacy circle.  The estimated cost would be around $300.  Funding through the school was not available.  The group voted unanimously to approve her request.  Carol A. will send Pippa the application form to be returned and the books may then be ordered.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The 2nd Annual Foundation Fling has been set for April 10th.  It was decided that we need to know what the entertainment will be before proceeding.  Beth Wulf will check prices of "dualing pianos", and Terri Carstensen is checking on entertainers through Comedy Productions.  We will then meet again on Monday, Jan. 25th at 7:30 PM in the meeting room at UBI.  Sponsorships will again be offered.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It was also decided to request applications for mini-grants this spring to coincide with the district's yearly ordering process for the next year.  Mrs. Trimble informed us of the budget cuts from the state and felt that there would be more needs for additional funds at this time.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The foundation is in need of persons willing to serve as committee members to help with the annual fundraiser and other events. Members present included Carol Auen, Kevin Carstensen, Pam Hansen, Carolyn Hoelscher, and Jason Wulf.  Beth Wulf was &lt;br /&gt;also in attendance.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Vice-president Jason called the meeting to order.  The annual meeting of the O-A Education Foundation scheduled for July was not held due to the lack of a quorum.   &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A review of the directors and their terms was held.  Jason nominated Carol Auen as a new director, seconded by Carolyn.  Motion approved.  Jason also nominated Beth Wulf as a new director, seconded by Carol, and approved.  Alex Murphy has served a one year term and his term has now expired.  Jason appointed Carol to a 3-year term and Beth to a 1-year term.  The officers will remain the same as they serve a 2-year term. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Carol reported she received a donation from the Class of 1949.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;United Funds of Odebolt, Inc. does not have our foundation listed on their form this year.  &lt;br /&gt;However, anyone may donate to our foundation and the money will be distributed to us.&lt;br /&gt;Joan Godbersen said that the O-A Education Foundation will be added when new forms are printed.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Carol distributed the four applications for O-A Education Foundation mini-grants. &lt;br /&gt;They included:&lt;br /&gt;1.  Creative Sewing ($899.00) by Joan Wiese.  &lt;br /&gt;2.  MicroKiln Plant Life Enameling ($552.84) by Twyla Godbersen. &lt;br /&gt;3.  Second Step:  A Violence Prevention Curriculum ($1,260.46) by Joleen Brady.&lt;br /&gt;4.  Laptops for TAG ($3,000.00) by Katie Bergman.  &lt;br /&gt;The applications were reviewed and a discussion was held.  Kevin moved that we accept Twyla Godbersen’s mini-grant, seconded by Pam, motion approved.  Pam moved we accept Joan Wiese’s mini-grant, seconded by Carol, motion approved.  Kevin moved that we table the mini-grant applications from Joleen Brady at the present time, seconded by Jason.  Carol will send an email to Ms. Brady requesting additional information.  Jason moved that we table the mini-grant from Katie Bergman, seconded by Kevin.  Carol will email Ms. Bergman requesting more information.  The O-A Education Foundation needs to follow up on the mini-grants that are awarded.  It was suggested that O-A Education Foundation members visit the school to examine our purchases.   We should also put an article and photo in The Chronicle for publicity.  Foundation Fling sponsors will then be able to see what their donations have helped purchase for the children and for our school.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We were reminded to be thinking of new members and invite them to our next meeting.  Ron and Jenny Sorensen have indicated an interest in serving as committee members.  The date for the annual fundraiser will be scheduled at our next meeting. Members present included Carol Auen, Roger Buehler, Kevin Carstensen, Pam Hansen, Carolyn Hoelscher, and Curt Wareham.  There were no minutes from the previous meeting.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss our first annual fundraising event scheduled for April 26, 2009, at the Odebolt Community Center.  Kevin and Carolyn explained a mutual sharing opportunity.  The Odebolt Community Center Board would help our committee’s fundraiser and a portion of our proceeds would be donated to the Odebolt Community Center.  In return, The O-A Education Foundation members would assist the Community Center with their “Burger Feed” on Memorial Day.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The O-A Education Foundation plans to have a dinner and provide entertainment at the Community Center the day after the O-A Prom.  The prom set up including all decorations and tables will be left for our fund raising event.  Kevin thinks we should  limit the event to 200 people.  The dinner would be catered by Aunt B’s Restaurant in Arthur.  Aunt B’s would charge us $6.50 for a salad, roll, fancy potatoes, green beans with almonds, a dessert, and coffee or ice tea.  Aunt B’s would also charge $4.79 per pound for ribeye steaks.  That price for the steaks is the restaurant’s cost.  Brenda Mace of Aunt B’s would donate her time to cut the steaks.   Kevin has reserved the Cattlemen’s grill for the grilling of the steaks.  Each person attending may receive one free drink ticket.  A cash bar will be open for the night with the Odebolt Community Center receiving the profit.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Kevin presented three different proposals for the selling of tickets for our fund raising event.  Possible sponsors were listed in three different groups:  gold, silver, and bronze.  The sponsors would be recognized in the special program for the event.  Foundation members selected people from Kevin’s list to visit for a monetary commitment for the event.  Tickets would be provided to sponsors at a late date.   It was decided not to have an auction.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We need a name for our first annual fund raising event.  Please be thinking about this.  The theme for prom is “Midnight Masquerade.”  Kevin suggested we have a social hour from 5 to 6 p.m., dinner at 6:00 p.m., and the entertainment begin at 7:30 p.m.  Entertainment for the evening may be a comedian.  Kevin is researching the entertainment.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Waiters and waitresses are needed for our event and ideas were discussed. We need at least 16 to 20 servers.  It was finally decided that our committee will be the servers and possibly some members of the Odebolt Community Center Board would help.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A foundation brochure will be placed at each place setting of the event.  We need to be thinking about tickets and posters.  A special program also needs to be printed which would include the sponsors’ names, the dinner menu, and agenda for the evening.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Carol will write a “talking points” to be use when soliciting sponsors so we are presenting the same information.
